MBI 110-1,2/S for Gietl in Germany
The Gietl company, an existing customer of MOOG with its headquarters in Germany, expanded its MOOG vehicle fleet to include a MBI 110-1,2/S, which was handed over to the customer at the beginning of May 2020 after completed training.
The MBI 110-1,2/S unit supplied was installed on a Scania chassis provided by the customer. For this installation an additional steel ring was mounted between the MOOG upper structure and the truck chassis, so this under-bridge unit can reach lowering depths of up to 22 ft. 11 in. The platform is spacious 3 ft. 11 in. wide and with the help of the platform extension provided can achieve horizontal ranges of up to 42 ft. 7 in. under the bridge. The main platform can handle a load of up to 1,100 lbs., with the payload on the platform extension at 220 lbs.
Due to the built-in steel ring, this under-bridge unit not only has the ability to cross a higher sound barrier of up to 9 ft. 6 in., the sidewalk-crossing (horizontal) was increased by installing a telescopic rotating frame making it now able to cross over sidewalks of up to 10 ft. 9 in.
Also included was a portable work scaffold with a standing height of 5 ft. 6 in. which enables access to the underside of a bridge and a way to get into deep girders. The work scaffold can be used on either the basic platform or the telescopic platform.
The unit was additionally equipped with a camera system, an intercom system, a night lighting system and a radio remote control for completely clear and easy use of the under-bridge access unit at any time of the day and night. The camera system includes a dock and reversing camera with a switchable color display in the truck cab. The intercom system ensures necessary communication between the operating men/women on the work platform and on/in the truck chassis. The wireless radio remote control completes the additional equipment of this under-bridge access unit and creates a certain freedom of movement during erection/use thus providing a better overview, especially in places that are difficult to see.
