MBI 170 mounted on Scania truck delivered to THEO.S in Germany
Once again MOOG was able to show a new customer the many advantages of MOOG under-bridge equipment: THEO.S – a service company for access technology of all kinds in Germany decided to buy a MOOG platform unit model MBI 170 with special equipment.
The MBI 170 standard unit has a maximum horizontal range of 17.0 m under the bridge. As THEO.S wanted to meet all demands in their service sector, the company decided to order a platform extension of 2.0 m and another of 1.0 m. Thus the maximum horizontal range of the MBI 170 is expanded to up to 20.0 m in a few simple steps.
With help of the custom installed vertical frame crossing of sound barriers can be extended from 3.0 m to 4.1 m as well. The vertical frame can be operated continuously and while not in use it helps to extend the over-bridging of sidewalks from 2.5 m to 3.75 m, big advantage in today’s ever changing bridge design market.
THEO.S also ordered two scaffolds and a hydraulic lift to be delivered as additional equipment together with the unit. The two scaffolds with a stand height of 2.0 m each and a working height of 4.0 m each the inspection of box girders is not a problem anymore because the scaffolds can be used throughout the length of the platform. With the installed hydraulic lift heights of 6.5 m become easily reachable.
The customer also requested the unit be equipped with a pier inspection unit. This enables the easy inspection of bridges piers with help of a small platform, that can be lowered from the main platform by means of steel cables. With help of installed night lightning and a camera system on the platform including reverse camera with switchable display, the unit can be operated immediately and at any time of the day or night.
Despite of the numerous optional items added to the unit the dry weight of the unit is still only 32,000 kg.
The training took place end of July 2014 at the facilities of MOOG.
After the training the unit was directly driven to its first operation in Thuringia/Germany.
