Three Under‐bridge access units were delivered to a new customer in Italy
Once again, MOOG succeeded in convincing a new customer of under‐bridge access technology “Made in Germany”. The Elevateur Company from Italy ordered three platform units: One MBI 160‐1.7/S and two MBI 145‐1.4/S each mounted on a Scania chassis
In early December 2021, the first of the three under‐bridge access units, the MBI 160‐1.7/S, was handed over to the customer after a successful training at the MOOG factory in Deggenhausertal. With this platform unit, a maximum horizontal reach of up to 52 ft. 5 in. under the bridge can be achieved. This can be extended to up to 59 ft. with the additionally supplied platform extension. Two portable working scaffolds, each with a payload of 220 lbs, were also supplied. One of them is designed for use on the main platform, the other for use on the telescopic platform. With a standing height of 6 ft. 6 in., both scaffolds allow flexible access up into the box girders on the underside of the bridge.
In March 2022, Elevateur was able to look forward to the handover of a slightly smaller platform unit, the MBI 145‐1.4/S. This machine has a maximum horizontal reach of up to 51 ft. 8 in. (including the supplied 4 ft. 1 in. length platform extension) under the bridge. In addition, the under‐bridge access unit was equipped with a steel ring, which was mounted between the truck chassis and the MOOG upper structure. This steel ring moves the MOOG upper structure upward to allow the overcrossing of higher sound barriers. With the additional lifting frame, sound barriers of up to 13 ft. 11 in. can be crossed. Two portable scaffolds complete the additional equipment of this under‐bridge access unit.
The second MBI 145‐1.5/S ordered will be handed over to the customer in the spring of 2023. Here, Elevateur company can look forward to an identical MBI 145‐1.5/S, but with one more additional equipment: A radio remote control. This will make the use of the machine even more convenient for the operating personnel above all clearer and safer when difficult locations.
MOOG wishes the Elevateur Company many successful assignments with their new MOOG fleet and thanks them for their trust in “Made in Germany” under‐bridge access technology.
