MOOG supplies MBI 70-1/S to Ireland
The final inspection and training took place in mid-February 2020 for a new MBI 70-1/S under-bridge access unit just shipped from the factory. The client was the company Height for Hire from Ireland, which, in addition to their MBI 110-1,2/S now has a second MOOG machine in their vehicle fleet.
The MBI 70-1/S was mounted on an Iveco chassis and has a horizontal range of up to 22 ft. 11 in. under the bridge. If the platform extension provided is used, the range is even increased up to 26 ft. 3 in.
At the customer’s request the under-bridge access unit was equipped with the special erection function (excavator erection), which makes it possible for the unit to be erected between overhead lines in the work area or on truss bridges for example. The scaffolding provided, with a standing height of 3 ft. 7 in., can be set up on the platform and allows entrance/access to hollow box girders for example. The additionally installed night lighting also enables the machine to be used safely in low-light settings or in the dark.
As a manufacturer MOOG always adapts its under-bridge access units to meet the country-specific conditions and regulation requirements of the country of destination. The left-hand traffic in Ireland was taken into account for this machine by using an IVECO right-hand drive. Since the machine is predominantly erected on the left side, the rear transport support was designed in such a way that it can be folded down for the pivoting process of the tower. This simplifies the left side erection and thus avoids a possible collision between the support and the tower of the machine.
With this second MOOG under-bridge access unit in their vehicle fleet, the customer can now cover many different and possible uses. MOOG wishes them many successful deployments!
End of May MOOG has also received beautiful photos of the customer‘s first operation of their MBI 110-1,2/S in Northern Ireland (see picture gallery). In addition under this link you can watch a short film of this operation: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zopyPXiLrQ979YcS8
