Easy-Lift gets two MOOG units
With the two Bridge Inspection Units supplied by MOOG, the Easy-Lift company from Berlin expanded its rental fleet in the spring of 2011. Now, the company owns the most modern and biggest platform unit in Europe: The trailer mounted MBI 210-2/S.
It is equipped with an automatic steering system that can be operated comfortably from the platform requiring only one person. The camera systems and necessary sensors including an ultrasound system mean additional support for the operator. With a maximum horizontal range of 75 ft. 5 in. underneath the bridge, a lowering depth of 36 ft. 1 in. and a maximum sound barrier crossing of 16 ft. 5 in., this unit is predestined for work on big highway bridges. It is also equipped with two hydraulic lifts that have 26 ft. 3 in. of working height each, which can move along the overall length of the platform. These make inspecting a bridge immensely easier and faster. Due to a platform width of 6 ft. 7 in. and a payload of 2,200 lbs., several people can work on the platform at the same time.
To fill the gap between the existing 22 ft. 11 in. and 59 ft. 1 in. units, Easy-Lift also invested in a MBI 110-1,2/S unit. This unit will primarily be used in urban areas. In spite of its low net weight of 33,000 lbs., the technical specs are remarkable:
A maximum horizontal range of 42 ft. 8 in., a lowering depth of 24 ft. 7 in. and a maximum sidewalk over-bridging of 10 ft. 10 in. The 3 ft. 11 in. wide platform can be loaded with up to 1,100 lbs. and is equipped with a portable scaffold.
During operation, both units are supported by conventional truck axles to minimize the pressure to the roadway, preventing permanent damage to the roadway especially in the summer heat.
