2 x MBI 70-1/S trailer units to PORR
The internationally active construction group PORR, based in Vienna/Austria, has invested in two new MOOG under-bridge units, which were delivered as planned in 2015 and 2017. Both machines were transferred directly from the MOOG company premises to the respective construction sites, where the handing over, commissioning and training took place beforehand.
Both units delivered were MBI 70-1/S trailer units and have a horizontal range of up to 7.0 m under the bridge. If the additionally supplied platform extension is used, the range increases up to 8.0 m. The platform is 1.0 m wide and can be loaded with up to 400 kg (200 kg at the end of the platform).
At the customer’s request, both machines were additionally equipped with the special erection function (excavator erection), which enables erection of the unit between e.g. catenaries in railway areas or on truss bridges. The platform can be rotated 90 ° before setting up the tower and can then be placed into the bridge’s upper structure prior to being lowered down. The scaffoldings, which were also supplied, complete the equipment giving it the possibility to access deep girders from the platform deck.
The basic difference between the two trailers supplied is the following:
The MBI 70-1/S delivered in March 2015 was standardly equipped with lateral supports that are pulled out to stabilize the unit in operation. In addition, a special height-adjustable drawbar with two different couplings (ring eye and ball head) was used for this under-bridge unit. The total weight amounted to 3,500 kg.
Per the customer’s request, the supports on the MBI 70-1/S delivered in March 2017 were installed in such a way that they do not have to be pulled out prior to use (as is the standard), but can be cranked directly down. This special customer request was designed and implemented by MOOG. Also for this machine a special height-adjustable drawbar eye was chosen which allows for three different bolting heights. The total weight of this machine increased to 4,700 kg.
These two under-bridge units for PORR are a good example that originally identical units can be individually adapted to meet the special requirements of the customer’s work areas – this is customized MOOG under-bridge access solutions!
