Delivery of a MBI 170 mounted on Scania truck to Japan
At the beginning of June 2014 a MOOG Under-bridge Access Unit Type MBI 170 with a lifting frame was delivered to a customer in Japan.
This machine is the first one mounted on a Scania chassis to be shipped to Japan. All units MOOG sold to Japan before were mounted on Asian-made chassis.
This unit shows once more that MOOG strives to meets its customers wishes, as the MBI 170 is a custom-made unit not a standard unit. MOOG’s product and structural engineers took the existing standard MBI 175 as the basis for the ordered unit and designed the MBI 170 to meet our customers current needs.
This unit is equipped with a smaller platform, having a length of 17.0 m and consequently, a lower load capacity than the MBI 175. However, other basic data such as the platform width of 1.5 m or the lowering depth of 9.4 m are the same for both types of unit.
The major advantage to this unit is, the MBI 170 was delivered to Japan equipped with a lifting frame according to the customer’s requirements.
This lifting frame enables crossing a wider sidewalk of up to 3.75 m and the ability to cross over a sound barriers of up to 4.2 m.
Units that are able to adapt to the local conditions while giving the operator access – that is MOOG a innovation!
