MBL 1750 delivered to Cramer, Germany
At the beginning of August 2011 a new Bridge Inspection Unit model MBL 1750 was delivered as per contract to the Cramer Company in Germany. This bucket unit is an expanded design of the MBL 1600 which includes a larger sidewalk over-bridging of 5.2 m.
This unit was first put into operation in India with great success. The horizontal range under the bridge was a key requirement of Cramer, so we extended the basket boom to gain a horizontal reach of 17.5 m.
With a lowering depth of 21.0 m and a working height of 23.2 m, the unit is ideally suited to be used for inspection work on truss bridges with trussing either above or below the bridge deck. A telescopic basket reaching up 2.4 m gives easy access into deep box girders or similar structural components. Being able to rotate 210° at the rotation tower and 180° at the vertical boom, makes this bridge inspection unit very flexible in its ability to get personnel where they need to be.
This unit comes equipped with level-adjustment capabilities. Once on the bridge it is possible to traverse a longitudinal/cross slope of up to 11%. The unit is equipped with an additional platform, which can be mounted on the basket boom to enable small repair work to be performed. All functions are controlled by a SPS-control system. There are four joysticks for the different driving functions, so the handling of the unit is as easy as never before. A display shows the active limit switches and emergency stop functions of the unit – this means in case of a system shut-down a quick and effective fix is possible getting personnel back to work in a timely manner.
