MBI 70-1/S to Austria
The final acceptance and training on a brand-new Under-Bridge Access Unit model MBI 70-1/S were happened at the MOOG premises the end of June 2015. The company Haider & Co GmbH, from Austria ordered the unit and drove it to its first working job at a construction site directly after the training.
The MBI 70 has a horizontal range of up to 7.0 m under the bridge. If the additionally ordered platform extension is used, the range can be increased up to 8.0 m. The width of the platform is 1.0 m and it can be loaded with up to 400kg.
As a standard, the lateral stabilizers for the trailer mounted Under-Bridge Units of this size are pulled out to ensure the stability of the unit while in operation. However, this customer asked us to install the stabilizers in a way that they would not have to be pulled out for standard operation but only had to be cranked down to be put into operation. MOOG met this requirement to the full satisfaction of the customer and designed a unit with a width of 2.5 m and a weight of 4,600 kg – it is a bit wider and heavier than comparable units of this size.
To be able to still ensure the security and safety standards of the unit, it was equipped with a complete brake system instead of a simple hand brake that is normally installed on units of this size.
MOOG again found a customized solution for its customer’s unique needs and accomplished it with this Under-Bridge Unit that is now being used on bridges in Austria.
