MBI 110-1,2/S RR to China
MOOG again successfully rose to a challenge. The Metro Shanghai enquired an under-bridge unit that allows the erection between an overhead line and a sound barrier and could over-bridge high sound barriers. As these requirements are unique they came to MOOG to address their equipment needs.
MOOG took up this challenge and used its MBI 110-1,2/S as a basic unit for the design and customized it to meet the customer’s special requirements. As a result the MBI 110-1,2/S RR was manufactured, mounted on a Mercedes Benz truck chassis and equipped with a ZWEIWEG driving system.
The platform unit was equipped with a telescopic rotation frame and a third rotation point between vertical frame and tower to enable it to be erected between overhead lines and sound barriers. To make this special erection more manageable for the operator, all erection movements can be operated from a position with good view with the help of a remote control with a cable length of 6.0 m.
To accomplish the over-bridging of high sound barriers, the machine was also equipped with a lifting frame that enabled the whole upper structure to lift up to approx. 1.0 m in 25 cm steps. When the machine is fully erected it can reach a horizontal range of up to 13.0 m under the bridge with help of a platform extension. The scaffold has a stand height of 1.7 m and can be used throughout the whole length of the platform for e.g. the inspection of bridge boxes. Equipped with night lighting, it enables the operation of the under-bridge unit at night which is a very important aspect for rail customers because rail bridges can only be fully closed and worked on during the down times at night.
The platform unit was shipped the end of January 2016. Upon delivery to the customer, training will take place to enable the customer to fully use their new unit.
